Emmerson first started playing drums from the age of nine after watching his Drum Hero "ANIMAL THE DRUMMER" out of the Muppets beating hell out of his drum kit. Prior to that he annoyed the living hell out of his parents by using pots and pans, knitting needles or anything to make or resemble a drum kit. "I was mesmerized with drums from an early age".

He was eventually rewarded with his first drum kit a Blue Del Ray on the proviso that he joined a band. His first High School band called themselves The Scorpions "Please don't get mixed up with the German Band, okay". After a year or so Emmerson moved on to play in numerous bands of varying styles with musicians that were much older than him. By this time he proceeded to hone his playing skills by listening and copying his favourite drummers such as:   John Bonham, Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell, Ginger Baker, Jeff Porcaro, Jim Keltner, Jim Gordon, Steve Gadd, Tommy Lee, Tommy Aldridge, Mike Bordin and Neil Peart "My drum hero list is endless, far too many to mention here". 

Emmerson is a totally self taught player and throughout his 23 years of playing experience has played drums on countless sessions including just missing out on auditions for The Cult and Heart, mainly his work rested on studio and live session work. Until choosing to play in the more stable environment of bands. 

Emmerson has over the years played drums for some of the following bands: Autumn Blue, Legs Up, Straight Shooter, Suck, Kingdom of Summer, Turtle Beach,  Eden, Typhoid Mary, Scream Dream, Koan, Blues Basement.

Whilst Emmerson played in Turtle Beach he met Wayne and they remained friends after Turtle Beach finished. They eventually paired up again when Emmerson auditioned for WageR in April 2005.

Emmerson’s listening habits vary a lot "depends which mood I'm in? Normally it's "Rock 'N' Roll "What else is there"

Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, The Who, Small Faces, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Megadeath, Metallica, Pantera, Whitesnake, Dream Theatre, Rush, Toto, Jeff Buckley and Tim Buckley, Radiohead, Jeff Beck, Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, Marillion, Smashing Pumpkins, Def Leppard, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Super Tramp, Steely Dan, Van Halen, Fun Loving Criminals, Motley Crue, all A.O.R type of stuff too!
