Is it possible just to "quite like" U2....?

My love for them has taken almost 20 years to grow....and yes I must say I now truly love them.

I became interested in U2 when Bono & The Edge played acoustic at the desk of Chris Evans on TFI Friday a few years ago. They were just superb - just Bono singing and The Edge playing acoustic guitar. They were simply brilliant. They sang "The Ground Beneath her Feet" and they won me over completely.Tongue

Do you realise?........this world is totally FUGAZI.

Bringing this post up to date.......

I think U2 better with age, over the last couple of years Ive started to appreciate them more and more.

I do think that one of their more recent songs...Vertigo.. would be a good song to cover.

Word's of Wisdom

To constructively and intelligently criticize a band or artist on there work you first need to be familiar with all there work, IE Status Que always use the same chord's this might get monotonous and boring listening to an album but it worked, there famous millionaires, I'm not. so would it not be more intelligent to listen to other famous band's and to try and work out what it is about there material that has made people go out and buy it. and in some way replicate that factor so as to progress forwardly with our own success, and then we too can have a laugh at poor wannabes criticizing our material and performances, not giving a flying f*** cause we got million's stashed in the bank. and know that we can produce any old crap and people will buy it like mindless sheep just because it's the cool thing to be listening to.

I'll just make one observation here.

All the bands mentioned above were popular (as in marketably popular) in the last century. You couldn't sell the likes of ZZ Top to the masses with disposable income now. U2 do still sell to their target demographic today. Personally I'm not a huge U2 fan, I like some of their stuff, back when Joshua Tree and Rattle & Hum were kinda new. Can't really get behind their newer stuff tho, just doesn't grab me.

Sorry but I disagree with that first bit, ZZ top might not make the charts but their albums still sell and they can still pack out any venue they play. Same for Quo and AC/DC. It is an age thing though, generally older people have got a far better taste in what they listen to, thats why bands like those mentioned do a lot better with album sales and concerts and not by releasing singles. ( when was the last time any one on here bought a 'single'?)

Now theres an interesting topic Smile
